In News, Our Thoughts

We were happy to host many LaunchCapital founders at recent events in Boston and NYC. Bringing together founders and friends to share challenges and perspectives and to create relationships/collaborations that will be helpful over time.

The event started in Boston, where LaunchCapital was started back in 2008.  We had portfolio companies represented from every class since 2008.  The event was held at the LogMeIn offices, which is part of the extended LaunchCapital family.

Here is Elon Boms, LaunchCapital founder, helping kick-off the event.

And Woody Benson, LaunchCapital Boston-area investor, speaking about our deep commitment to helping take companies from the seed stage to meaningful, sustainable business.

In this breakout session on hiring, we talked through strategies around making correct early hiring decisions. Pictured here includes long-time LC family Jules Pieri from The Grommet and Justin Borgman of Hadapt (now Teradata).

Conversations below included perspectives on nailing your product. Here Spoiler Alert’s Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer Emily Malina has a crowd.

And Managing Director Cliff Sirlin (pictured in middle) talked through market positioning and sales with founders and friends from across the region.

And my favorites include LaunchCapital’s (and FreightFarm’s) Heather Onstott with RunKeeper founder Jason Jacobs.

As well as us pretending to be serious people.  Pictured below is PromoBoxx’s Ben Carcio, LaunchCapital’s Jason Gray, and Localytics’ Raj Aggarwal.

The following day we were in NYC, where LaunchCapital has made 36 investments in the greater NYC region, and is committed to doubling-down on its financing activity in the region.

Managing Director Cliff Sirlin kicked off the event, speaking about the power of entrepreneurship to shape change for the better in our country and our world.

Small group conversations included the Domino Media Group team. Pictured below is Domino’s CEO Nathan Coyle with LaunchCapital’s Cliff Sirlin (Domino cofounder, former CEO, and current Board chair) and NYC Venture Partner Stefan Pepe (Domino Board member).

Also in breakout conversation is Corie Hardee of Union Station and Sanjiv Sanghavi of Tulip Clean and ClassPass.

As well as MiniBar’s Lara Crystal and Lindsey Andrews, pictured here with Priori Legal’s Mirra Levitt.

Like in Boston, it’s great to catch up with friends and make new ones.  Here is Centennial Media’s Ben Harris with Elon Boms, Stefan Pepe, and Andy Appelbaum (of RiverPark Ventures).

And to close us out, <3 from the team at MPOWERD, John Salzinger and Seungah Jeong.
